IDS to recruit 500 medical assistants to work with US Doctors

One of the leading IT/ITeS company, IDS Infotech, has entered into a new vertical of medical scribes to work with US-based doctors with the help of US-based Augmedix Inc.

Mohali based IDS Infotech has entered into a collaboration with US-based Google Glass startup, Augmedix, to provide medical scribe services to the US doctors.

The co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Augmedix, Pelu Tran who was in the city to interact with some of the educational institutes in life sciences, said that under Obamacare initiative every doctor in US is required to maintain electronic medical records of the patients.

Managing Director of IDS Infotech, Partap Aggarwal said that IDS would be recruiting nearly 500 medical scribes immediately to cater to the growing requirement in USA healthcare industry. We are looking for fresh graduates from any of the life sciences streams with English speaking skills to join this growing job opportunity, he said.

Augmedix, the first Google Glass startup, uses technology platform for US doctors who while interacting with the patient are not only getting the medical history and conversation converted into digital records at the backend, but are also able to access past history in real time, and freeing the doctors for more productive time with patients.

IDS Infotech, one of the first companies to enter into IT-enabled services in the region, had been in the business of providing medical transcription, but the changed health scenario in US has provided another opportunity to give life-science students and paramedics to work with the US doctors, Partap Aggarwal said.

IDS Infotech organized an interactive session with the academicians and aspirants from life sciences background including paramedic, pharmaceuticals, fresh MBBS to showcase the growing opportunity in this upcoming field.

Sri Daya Singh, Vice President Operations of Augmedix, who had been involved with IDS Infotech right from the early 90s, said that IDS had been a key partner right from the beginning and we look forward to exponential expansion of this project.

Earlier, CII Chandigarh Chairman Amarbir Singh said that India has the potential and young work force to meet the requirements of newer skills in the world especially when the average age of Indian citizens would be 29 years by 2020 compared to 37 in China and USA, and 45 years in western Europe.
