Istanbul’s Real Estate Market is Trending – and EstateNation Isn’t Surprised
February 28, 2019 – – A new research by EstateNation says the Turkish real estate market rose significantly for 2018. Abdullah Sabbagh, CEO of EstateNation, has seen an increase in demand for properties in Istanbul at his company and believes 2019 will continue to bring a strong real estate market. “Here at our office, we’ve been as busy as ever. We’ve had record numbers of people contacting us for information about our properties and investing in Istanbul City real estate,” he states. “ In particular, we’ve seen a strong demand for starter apartments, including new construction as well as existing apartments.”
EstateNation strives to educate and help these buyers make the right move. They believe that educating potential buyers is a key to growing a successful real estate business.
“We predict 2019 will be a growth year for Istanbul real estate market, which is amazing considering the rising interest rate environment in Turkey. Many cities look like they are starting to slow down but we’re seeing a trend in many of Istanbul’s neighborhoods,” Sabbagh says.
He believes the factors fueling Istanbul’s continued real estate trend is the city’s location at the Bosphorus. Not only that, Sabbagh adds, “If you compare Istanbul to other top cities around Europe, Istanbul real estate is still underpriced and offers tremendous value to foreign investors. It is a safe, solid and stable investment.”
Many residents are very optimistic about Istanbul City and the potential growth. A current resident says, “I have lived in Istanbul for five years now. I grew up in London, but I love Istanbul so much more. I went to college in Turkey and found an amazing job in Istanbul after graduation. The city is so vibrant and has so many things to do, with an amazing mix of cultures, a great place to settle in for both young people and families. I moved away for 4 months due to work and I missed it. That wasn’t because there was anything wrong with my new city, but because it simply wasn’t Istanbul. I honestly don’t see myself leaving again. I have made Istanbul my home and I love it.”
With further foreign investment, Istanbul has found ways to increase demand for housing while fueling a wave of home remodelers. While much of Istanbul’s housing inventory is older, savvy investors have found ways to renovate these properties for a profit. This has led to lower unemployment and an increase in home sales. “Neighborhoods have started to come around and areas that used to be mostly board ups are now bustling family neighborhoods,” explains Mr. Sabbagh.
