Jose Soriano Announces Expansion Into Real Estate Photography

Calgary, Alberta – June 10, 2016 /MarketersMedia/

Photographer Jose Soriano has made a name for himself in commercial and editorial photography. With a background in photo journalism, he brings a storyteller’s sensibility to his work, whether he’s shooting events, fashion, food, or portraits of business professionals. To increase his visibility and to contribute to another sector where his skills are needed, he has recently announced that he is expanding into a new market, real estate photography.

“A lot of real estate agents attempt to do real estate photography on their own rather than hiring a Commercial Photographer,” said Soriano. “But for many of them, it’s a mistake. Even though smart phones come with great cameras these days, there are just too many details involved in producing a really top-quality, professional-looking photograph that the average person isn’t going to be able to master. A professional photographer is going to know how to set up a room and control the lighting to show off the room’s best qualities. Also, a pro will know how to edit the photographs to make the images look amazing.”

Soriano went on to describe some of the techniques he uses to stage and edit real estate photos. One of the most important tools he uses is a professional camera that allows him to control every aspect of the photo’s quality, like exposure, shutter speed, and aspect ratio. Choosing the right aspect ratio can have a big effect on the impact of the image, especially in real estate photography. A wide view of a room with very white lighting, for example, creates a sense of space and luxury.

“Another advantage of my camera over a smart phone,” Soriano added, “is that a professional camera takes photos in RAW format, which is a minimally processed format kind of like a film negative. With a RAW file, I can do so much more with the photograph in the editing process. I can brighten or soften the light in the room, and I can micro-manage a hundred little details to create an image that represents not just a living space but a lifestyle.”

Though he remains involved in other types of commercial photography, Soriano is pleased to announce this new professional venture, which is very much in line with his experience to date. “At heart, I’m a story-teller,” he said, “and every home has a unique story to tell.” Real estate agents and others can contact Soriano through his website, http://josesoriano.com.
