K2 Tech Group recently celebrated its one-year anniversary. 2016 has been a whirlwind of a year for K2 Tech, and we are looking forward to extending our services to the entire state of South Carolina in 2017.

K2 Tech Group, a Managed IT Services provider, recently celebrated its one-year anniversary. Thirteen months after K2 Tech’s grand opening in Oct 2015, K2 Tech is proud to be serving and supporting local Midlands businesses. 2016 has been a whirlwind of a year for K2 Tech, and K2 Tech is looking forward to extending services to the entire state of South Carolina in 2017.

K2 Tech Group began business as K2 Technology, LLC in Oct of 2015, sooner than owners Geoffrey Giles and Zach Minton wanted to open up shop. “We wanted to wait until Jan 2016 so we could have a clean calendar year, but the flood of Oct 2015 showed us that the Midlands needed real IT solutions services sooner,” stated Giles, Owner/ Director of IT Services of K2 Tech. The first task as a new business was to build a locally owned and operated Cloud. Geoff and Zach knew the Midlands needed a local Cloud Computing option to ensure that local businesses not only had a proactive and protected Data Backup and Recovery option, but guaranteed recovery time, Network Security and an impregnable IT Infrastructure setup, without the headache of dealing with overseas IT Support. With the Cloud built, K2 Tech was ready to start providing Managed Services and increase local business productivity with the use of robust updated technology. Highlights from the past year included helping two businesses with their PCI audits, rescuing a law firm from a ransomware attack and hosting two larger firms on the cloud, saving one firm time and close to $10,000 over a 3-year period.

Over the last year the K2 Tech family has focused on not just being one of the many IT Companies in the area providing IT Services that no one understands, but to become the locally trusted IT Consultants that delivers custom IT Solutions through the use of proactive Managed Services. This included helping businesses whom are not clients of K2 Tech by providing training, volunteering time and hosting lunch-and-learn sessions with the local chambers of commerce in the Midlands. The 7 Deadly It Sins presentation given at the Greater Irmo Chamber and the Columbia Chamber in October were big hits, and K2 Tech plans on doing more of these for the community in 2017.

2016 was also a great year to give back to the community, one of K2 Tech’s core values. K2 Tech teamed up to not only sponsor, but to volunteer at many events this year including Strike out Alzheimer’s with Anchor Lanes and Brookedale Harbison, and the Stuff a Bus Event with the Snack Pack Program and District 5. K2 Tech has also been given the great opportunity to be mentors and advisors to the Carolina Technology Alliance or CAT Program as well as the Richland 2 STEM program, encouraging local youth to become industry and technology leaders of the future. Lastly, K2 Tech worked with the Department of Homeland Security to be a local Champion for National Cyber Security Awareness Month in October and Critical Infrastructure and Resilience Month in November. K2 Tech pledged to continue the company’s community involvement for 2017.

After a successful first year, K2 Tech looks forward to 2017. K2 Tech has four community trainings planned for 2017, with topics encompassing everything from Cell Phone Safety to Business Regulation Requirements.
