FRISCO, TEXAS – August 14th, 2015– Kids ‘R’ Kids of Lawler Farm, in partnership with Axiom Vanguard & Community Recycling, introduced a shoe-recycling fundraiser that promises ease and engagement for all involved. The ShoeBox Recycling program recycles gently used shoes for reuse. Kids ‘R’ Kids of Lawler Farm will collect shoes that will find new owners around the world. From South America and Africa to areas right here in the United States, the recycled shoes will go to help people and communities in over 50 countries.
Through ShoeBox Recycling’s SoleMate Note initiative, recyclers are urged to include a “SoleMate” note along with their recycled shoes telling their shoes’ new owner where they came from, what they were used for, or even any special memories attached to them. In return, the recipient can write back to complete the SoleMate connection.
“We are thrilled to become a part of this meaningful fundraising program that encourages our students and families to take local action to support a larger global movement.” said Malak Agha, Owner of Kids ‘R’ Kids of Lawler Farm. “In addition to the social and environmental impact of our recycling efforts, we will be raising much needed funds to help battle poverty.
Community Recycling has flipped the recycling triangle upside down and have mastered the most powerful ‘R’—REUSE. With over 300 million pairs of reusable shoes hitting landfills each year, they are looking to change the way people think about their shoes.
“We want shoe recycling to become habit forming, engaging and rewarding for everyone involved,” said Community Recycling president, Ira Baseman. “Our partnership with Kids ‘R’ Kids of Lawler Farm is a great way to get that message out. ShoeBox Recycling not only helps people around the world but also works to inspire a new generation of recyclers right here in our own communities.”
