Kids Spanish Immersion & Enrichment Social Classes Aid Bilingual Parenting

A revolution in how children are taught Spanish is underway in California. Social teaching environments and bilingual learning bring new benefits for all participants.

California’s embrace of Proposition 58 in November 2016 opened the door to the reintroduction of non-English language teaching, most commonly Spanish, in public schools. Now imaginative education entrepreneurs all over the state are providing innovative ways for busy parents to immerse their kids in Spanish language and culture in preschool, after school and summer camp settings in an effort to make their children bilingual at an early age.

One of the most interesting philosophies emerging from the increased academic study on the effects a bilingual education has on children’s development is that social environments foster an almost unconscious learning of important language fundamentals. Young children very quickly grasp multi-language equivalence in numbers, colors, sounds and smells without tedious vocabulary exercises that are traditionally based on repetition and homework.

A new group of educators at Chiqui Social in Culver City CA aims to bring exactly this type of bilingual Spanish Immersion education to the wider Los Angeles area.

Owner Lizet Alvarez notes “One of the newest trends in public education is two-way immersion where two languages are taught side by side with the aim of functional bilingualism by the time kids get to Middle School. Chiqui Social helps develop those language skills in a fun, social setting.”

Alvarez adds “The first seven years of a child’s life is when their belief system is formed. Learning a different language can make them more aware of cultural differences. They also come to understand why those differences exist and the importance of respecting cultures different from their own.”

Chiqui Social is enrolling children now for all classes. The company’s goal is to develop a lifelong ability in children to communicate with people from other cultures, countries, and backgrounds and to expand their educational, professional, and social opportunities. Chiqui Social provides an ideal setting for gently exposing your child to one of the world’s most popular languages.
