“Laurel Oaks Charter School faced several challenges in its first year,” stated Mr. Shamsid-Deen, Head of School. “Our scheduled first school day was the day after the flood, we faced under enrollment, and started our school with the least fundraised dollars than any other startup school.” Despite these many setbacks Laurel Oaks, decided that in its first year, they had to ensure high expectations in behavior and academics. “Everyone on our Team, knew no matter what faced us as a Laurel Oaks Family, we would do right by our students. We made every instructional minute count, we worked hard, communicated and invested in our students and families to make our first year strong. We are looking forward to pushing the bar even higher this year and getting every scholar (student) on grade level.”
