Lawsuits Being Filed By Sexual Assault Attorneys Nationwide Against Massage Envy
January 12, 2016 – – AbuseGuardian.com reports on the mounting number of lawsuits being filed against Massage Envy in cases of sexual assault on their female clients. Women across the country have filed numerous lawsuits with similar allegations that Massage Envy not only hired therapists who sexually assaulted multiple female clients, but allegedly attempted to cover up the assault complaints in many cases.
One lawsuit filed in Pennsylvania states that there are “more than fifty (50) allegations of sexual assaults by Massage Envy therapists occurring in approximately fifteen (15) different states.” Many plaintiffs are outraged due to the fact that they reported the initial assault to Massage Envy staff members, and law enforcement officials were not contacted. The perpetrator was then able to continue his abuse on multiple unsuspecting women. This was the case in West Chester, Pennsylvania, when a complaint was made against a male therapist, James Deiter, in January of 2015. Deiter, rather than being fired or reported to police, was suspended for one week and then allowed to return to work without any restrictions. Massage Envy allegedly, continued to recommend Deiter to female clients, even after the complaints had been made against him. Deiter then went on to assault at least 2 more females before he was arrested and charged with multiple violations.
Similar cases are popping up in various states, yet Massage Envy states on their company website that they adhere to a strict “zero tolerance policy” in regards to inappropriate behavior. Court documents read differently saying: “Defendants did not have in place adequate, reasonable, and necessary rules, regulations, policies, and procedures with respect to the removal and/or supervision of individuals in its employ or service who were suspected of being sexual predators.”
Brian Kent, Esq., one of the lawyers from the firm behind AbuseGuardian.com, commented: “While many of these victims have seen their offenders arrested and convicted, we believe that any entity that fosters a culture that allows this type of abuse to continue needs to be held fully accountable.” He continued: “We are currently representing several clients in sexual assault cases against Massage Envy, and we are actively fielding questions from individuals and the media.” In order to assist the victims of these crimes with the financial burdens they are under, due to medical costs and more associated with the assaults Brian Kent is working towards recovering compensation for these victims.
