Zippy Cap Offers a Practical Solution that will be Made in the USA

ZippyPlanet, a startup founded on Long Island, today announced the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for the company’s first product, ZippyCap, an innovatively designed reusable straw with a spill proof cap that fits virtually any store-bought beverage. The product will be made entirely with recycled materials in the USA and is designed to promote increased sustainability and recycling.

“Like many people before us, we had a problem and looked for a solution,” said ZippyPlanet Founder and CEO, Alison Szap. “We were always on the go (remember those days) and we were looking for a compact and convenient eco-friendly reusable straw that also provided a spill-proof feature. Finding nothing on the market that met our needs, ZippyCap was born.”

After years of perfecting both form and function, ZippyPlanet was able to create a product that solved all our needs, and best of all we are able to make it entirely in the USA with recycled materials sourced from ocean-bound plastics. Its unique application allows consumers to drink from almost any standard store-bought beverage bottle with no concern of messy spills thanks to the universal fit design of our cap and its built-in straw that always stays fixed in the bottle. It stays sanitary during the application of the cap as well thanks to the germ-free twist top.

The Kickstarter campaign is expected to last one month. ZippyPlanet hope to start fulfilling orders by the Fall of 2021 at the latest.

“After experimenting with different prototypes, we now have complete confidence in not only the design and manufacturing of the product but also in the business case,” continued Szap. “We have invested much of our own money and time to get this far, and with the help of the Kickstarter community, we’re confident that we can achieve the funding necessary to bring ZippyCap to market.”

ZippyCap will be made with high quality food grade materials, TPE, and silicone. The parts will be durable, can be disassembled easily and come with a cleaning kit for deep cleaning so they can be re-used for a long time. The product will also use zero plastic in our packaging and only source our boxes and shipping containers from recycled paper.

Once the product is on the market, the company plans to partner with 1% for the Planet, directing donations to organizations that help keep plastic out of our oceans and landfills and are trail blazers in the plastic reduction and recycling effort.

“Ideally, we should be cutting down on the use of single use plastics. But until that happens in a meaningful way, our hope is that we can bring awareness to the many recycling initiatives out there and encourage people to support companies that use recycled plastic in their products AND to recycle their bottles,” concluded Szap. “Recycling existing plastic waste must be supported, it is the only way to reduce the plastic waste that is sitting around our planet.”
