Local Group Launches Effort to Increase Awareness and Raise Funds for “Miraculous” School for Children with Developmental Risks and/ or Special Needs and Raises $8,500 in Three Days

A Former UCLA IP Student’s Father, Michael T. Ward recognized the immeasurable value of the program to the community, and more specifically to the children and families it serves. In an effort to ensure that the program is around for generations to come, Michael has developed a team to help generate awareness and funds that will directly support the UCLA IP program’s need for updated equipment and materials for their students. Within three days the fundraiser has already $8,500 of their $50,000 goal.
Los Angeles, CA – August 10, 2015

On August 6, 2015 a local group led by Michael T. Ward launched an all-out effort to increase awareness and raise money to help support the UCLA Intervention Program, a school focused on helping children with disabilities. The efforts will include launching a dedicated website with promotional videos, interviews with parents of current and former students, and specific information about the special needs school, a gofundme.com account, and various Social Marketing strategies. “The goal of the program is to raise a minimum of $50,000 dollars, and make sure that the Los Angeles community knows that a place like the UCLA IP exists, and is available to those that need it most” says Michael Ward. Ward also adds, “Anyone who has ever been through, or had a child in the program has only the best things to say about it, using words like Miraculous, Magic, Life Changing, Caring, and Extraordinary. It truly is a program that is second to none when it comes to serving children with special needs.”

The school is regionally funded, and with budget cuts consistently cutting into their lifeblood, it is becoming paramount that they find other ways to generate funds to maintain this amazing program. Michael T. Ward and his team of volunteers have committed themselves to reaching this goal, and make sure that children and families have access to such a stellar program for generations to come.

About the UCLA Intervention Program:
The UCLA Intervention Program is a center-based early intervention program providing educational, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to children 0-3 years old with a range of developmental risks and disabilities. The school was founded in the 1950s, and has been in the same location since the 1960s. The UCLA Intervention Program encourages the individual development for each student, and provides social interactions within a classroom environment. Each staff is trained and skilled at viewing each child within the context of typical child development, having the same basic needs as all children, as well as some that are uniquely his or her own. Each child receives the attention he or she needs, to address any areas of concerns as well as challenges that help develop their areas of strength as well. Since its inception 50+ years ago, this program has provided thousands of children in the LA area the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop in a safe, loving, and nurturing environment.
