Local Woman of Color Owned Company Takes DEI by Storm

Be the change consulting increases accessibility with new website and demonstrates expanded capacity to help organizations with social justice and restorative practices.

August 10, 2021 / /

Oakland, CA: This June, Be the Change Consulting redesigned its website to be more inclusive to all people. The organization intends to better live into its values of social justice and equity and communicate its capacity to work with a wide variety of communities, organizations, corporations, and schools.

The fonts, designs, and colors were chosen to be as accessible and inspiring as possible to diverse audiences committed to social change. The new website also includes easier navigation, a clearer description of what Be the Change has to offer, easier purchasing and customer experience, behind-the-scenes access to Be the Change’s journey as an antiracist organization, and new content focused on DEI, Social Justice, restorative practices for all ages.

“Developing this website helped us commit once again to who we want to be in the world,” Sangita Kumar, Principal and Founder of Be the Change Consulting, said. “This moment in the pandemic gave us the space to choose — hopelessness or hope. The process of content curation represents our own antiracist pivot toward more inclusion, power sharing and collaboration.”

The new website also communicates the organization’s ability to work with a wider variety of communities, organizations, corporations, and government agencies than in the past. While Be the Change has its roots in youth development, 60% of its clients today are in other fields. Recent clients include San Francisco Warriors Foundation, Gavin Newsom’s Office, Chan-Zuckerberg Foundation, San Francisco Museum of Fine Arts, and San Francisco Unified School District, among others. Be the Change hopes to engage with new audiences in 2021 and beyond.
