London Hearts Leads the Way in Providing Life-Saving Defibrillators to UK Communities
Defibrillator charity London Hearts is leading the charge in providing and promoting the installation of defibrillators across the UK. The charity has provided over 25,000 defibrillators and continues to do so.
United Kingdom – November 24, 2023 —
London Hearts is a leading heart defibrillator charity in the UK, dedicated to helping and supporting communities with the provision of life-saving heart defibrillators and teaching CPR/Defibrillator skills. With over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occurring across the country each year, it is crucial to have access to defibrillators, which are the only devices that can help when someone experiences a cardiac arrest.
Sadly, less than one in ten people survive out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK. However, by delivering effective and speedy treatment, survival rates can be raised from 4% to 70%. This requires the use of CPR (chest compressions) and a defibrillator.
ABOUT LONDON HEARTS
London Hearts is committed to making this life-saving equipment more affordable for communities and organisations throughout the country.
By providing charity grant funding, London Hearts ensures that individuals, businesses, communities, sports clubs, schools and charities of all sizes can apply to receive part funding to assist in getting a defibrillator. Typically costing between £1,500 and £2,000 for a public access defibrillator, defibrillators can be a financial barrier for many, but with London Hearts’ support, this obstacle is removed. London Hearts appreciates this may seem like a big investment but believes it’s not possible to put a price on a life.
To date, London Hearts has already provided over 25,000 defibrillators to communities across the UK. The charity’s experienced team is available to offer their expertise and tailored solutions for defibrillator projects. Whether you’re an individual, charity or a multi-site corporation, partnering with London Hearts can not only help save lives but also benefit your brand.
As a result of our defibrillators being in situ, London Hearts knows of 69 lives that have been saved. The latest known case was at the Old King’s Arms Pub in July 2023, after the defibrillator had only been in situ for 3 months
London Hearts’ mission is to ensure that no one is ever further than 100 metres away from a defibrillator. The chance of survival decreases by 10% per minute after a cardiac arrest. By working together, everyone can make this vision a reality and create a powerful line of defence against cardiac arrest.
There’s no need to be a fireman to use a fire extinguisher and it’s not necessary to be a medic to use a defibrillator.
