360ict.co.uk has published a new article entitled “How Can Businesses Improve Their Cyber Security?”, which sheds light on the most important aspects of the huge concerns about cyber crime and what business should do to protect themselves. Interested small business owners, IT managers and professionals, and interested individuals can view the full article on the 360ict website.

The article includes several interesting pieces of information, one in particular is that this month the NCSC, the government’s cyber centre, recognised the threat of cyber attack on SMEs (small or medium sized business) in a new classification system to boost the UK response to cyber attack. This should be of particular interest to small business owners, IT managers and professionals because the cyber crime threat to small businesses is being recognised and will hopefully urge SMEs to get their digital houses in order.

One of the most important piece of information the article communicates is the importance for small businnesses of taking action now to secure their computing networks and systems to ward off digital fraud, hackers and data phishing. The best example of this is perhaps found in the following extract:

‘Fraudsters, hackers and other cyber criminals are evolving all the time in the ways in which they attack honest businesses. Digital technology has undoubtedly brought society many benefits. For successful businesses focussed on growth, the use of ICT is now ingrained in their organisations, their processes and their marketing. Use of IT is a key tool for driving productivity and profitability. But how prepared are businesses for cybercrime?’

In discussing the article’s creation, Roy Charles, Founder at 360ict.co.uk said, “”When we are called on by a client to provide small business IT support and advice, we make sure that we give priority to checking their cyber security. That’s because an alarming number of SMEs have suffered cyber crime due to not putting in place adequate prevention measures. My article aims to warn people about the prevalance of this nasty crime which can immobilise business. I hope it will result in businesses taking note of the good IT practices which they should be following.”
