Long Island Man Airlifted To Hospital, Cues Comments From Construction Accident Lawyer

June 17, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman commented on a recent development in Long Island, New York, where a Northport construction worker was rushed to hospital following a construction accident on June 10th. Moverman applauds local first responders for rushing to the scene to assist the traumatized victim. Additionally, he hopes that federal regulators will use this incident as an example to stimulate an increase of safety rules and regulations for construction workers.

As reported by Patch.com, a 22-year-old man was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by a Suffolk County Police helicopter following a traumatic accident while on site at a Maple Avenue home. Local authorities claim that the man shaved off nearly an eighth of an inch of his hand. The Northport Police Chief stated that the victim didn’t need to have anything amputated following his injury, but indicated that the victim may never have fingernails again.

The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) listed individuals getting caught in equipment or machinery as the fourth leading cause of construction worker fatalities in 2014. Thankfully, the Long Island victim’s injuries are being treated extensively and are non-fatal. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) claim that there were close to 3 million non-fatal injuries and illnesses in private industry in 2014. The BLS also indicate that there were nearly 5,000 cases of fatal injuries in private industry in 2014, including nearly 900 construction worker fatalities.
