Long Okura Featured In Attorney At Law Magazine
March 14, 2017 – – Rebecca Long Okura with Long Okura Attorneys At Law in Salt Lake City, Utah, was recently featured in the Attorney At Law Magazine. The magazine featured Long Okura speaking about the struggles that new attorneys face when venturing out on their own and how to overcome some of the obstacles of not having the protection of a law firm.
“It can be difficult,” Long Okura says, “To go off on your own without an established firm to back you up. There’s no training in law school that helps you to prepare for being on your own.”
The attorney says that because of this, she established a side company, the Small Firm Coach, that offers coaching to attorneys who are struggling with the business side of their practice. She was recently appointed to the Utah Bar committee on new attorney training. The feature story in Attorney At Law Magazine, which can be seen at http://www.attorneyatlawmagazine.com/salt-lake-city/professional-profile-rebecca-long-okura/, focused on that side business and how Long Okura is helping attorneys to better market their firms and gain clientele, even without the backing of a large law firm.
In the interview with Attorney At Law Magazine, the lawyer states that she looks for “ways to open up more of the market by providing services to people who can’t afford the full traditional contract.” She states that she focuses on what smaller or newly developed firms can offer the community that may be different from what other firms are currently offering.
Rebecca Long Okura is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center. She has experience in a number of fields including contract litigation, criminal and tobacco litigation, and real estate law among others. During law school, she represented juvenile criminal defendants as part of Georgetown’s clinic program.
She left a family law firm to found her own firm, which has given her insights into what attorneys face when doing so. She states that being featured in the legal magazine was an honor and she hopes that readers will gain valuable insights into the topic.
