Maggie Flanigan Studio Announces Highly Positive Review Of Its 2 Year Program For Acting

August 26, 2019 – – Maggie Flanigan Studio, which is based in New York City, has announced that they have received a highly positive review for their 2 year program acting students have been very much interested in. In the review, Chelsea Perez explains why enrolling in the 2 year program was the best decision that she ever made in her life. She states that the classes have exceeded her wildest expectations and that she will cherish her experiences at the school for acting for the rest of her life.

Chelsea Perez said, “Having just finished the 2 year program at Maggie’s, I can honestly say coming here was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life. Initially I thought the studio was just going to teach me how to act. I had no idea that it would help me find myself and my voice to say the least. They gave me the courage and the confidence to stand up for myself in all aspects of my life. Not only do I understand now who I am as an actress, I also have the fundamentals needed to carve out a successful career. The in depth training and different classes they offer exceeded my wildest expectations and although I’ve finished my two years of training as an actress, Maggie’s will always be a place where I continue to train in different areas of my craft. I am forever grateful for the experiences I had here and I will cherish them forever.”

The two year acting programs in NYC that are being offered at Maggie Flanigan Studio teach the Meisner Acting Technique. This is an approach to acting that was developed by Sanford Meisner. The principle is for the actor to behave instinctively to their surrounding environment. The school starts with the basic Meisner repetition exercise that begins to sharpen the actor’s ability to really listen, answer, and respond. The Meisner technique is composed of a series of training exercises that become progressively complex to allow the students to develop an ability to first improvise, then to access an emotional life, and finally bring the spontaneity of improvisation to their acting.

Within a small and comfortable studio setting provided by Maggie Flanigan Studio, actors are able to learn more about acting and receive training in a range of world famous techniques. Applications to the two year acting program will start on September 10, 2019. Those who are interested are encouraged to call to schedule an interview.

During the first year of training, which spans nine months, the work evolves into an improvisational Meisner exercise that encompasses all of the fundamentals of acting. The actor is then tasked to bring that work to three rounds of scenes during the first year with the goal of bringing the exercise work to text. Also, the actor will learn how to determine the previous circumstance of a particular scene, how to emotionally connect to it, and how to develop an acting relationship.

During the second year of the acting program, the actor explores what he or she does when his or her straight response is not the characters. It is at this part of the program that the actors get the tools to solve that problem organically. Character development and script interpretation form the core of the second year of the program. Another key component of this part of the program is teaching the actor about the rehearsal process and understanding what will be expected of the actor professionally.

The primary goal of the two year acting program is to instill in the students a way of working that will serve as the foundation for their talent that will hopefully support them in their career.

Those who are interested in the classes offered by the acting school can visit their website, or contact them on the telephone or through email. Their business hours are from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm, from Monday to Friday, and from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm for Saturdays and Sundays.
