Mail Carrier Attacked By Dog Wins Trial

LOS ANGELES – A jury has ruled that a Southern California postal worker deserved compensation after he was attacked by a dog while on his route in a Los Angeles neighborhood.

The jury awarded the mail carrier nearly twice the final amount that the insurance company offered before attorneys Tae Kim and John Noland of The Barnes Firm took the case to trial and achieved the verdict.

“Postal workers provide a vital service to our community,” The Barnes Firm’s LA managing attorney, John Sheehan said. “We have a responsibility to make sure they can do their job safely.”

Every year, more than 6,000 U.S. Postal employees are attacked by dogs – and no city has more yearly dog attacks than Los Angeles. In 2016 alone, 80 workers were attacked by dogs in L.A., according to the USPS.
