June 30, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman stated recently that a young man killed in Blue Earth County is yet another tragedy added to the construction industry this year. Moverman added that he offers his sympathies to the family and friends of the victim and hopes that this incident will prompt change for construction companies in the future.

ABC 6 reported this month that the 28-year-old man had been killed when a trench he was working in collapsed and buried him. The call for help came in at 2:45 p.m., according to the news source. It took rescuers nearly five hours to get the man out of the trench. His body was recovered at 8:15 P.M. It was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The most common forms of injury in the construction business include slips, trips, and falls. These types of accidents in addition to electrocution and being stuck between objects or struck by them, accounted for over half of construction worker deaths in 2014, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The OSHA reported that more than 20 percent of all work-related fatalities in 2013 were employed in the construction industry and that one in five of the 4,821 reported fatalities in 2014 were also in the construction industry.
