Massive Kontent Releases Search Traffic Analysis on the Top 8 Comic News Sites
A new SEO analysis reveals that the top comic industry news sites are generating millions of dollars worth of search engine traffic per annum.
Vancouver, Canada – October 28, 2016 /MarketersMedia/ —
Comicbook.com generated an estimated $670,000 in online exposure from combined mobile and desktop search traffic in September 2016. Superherohype.com came in at a close second at $656,000.
Massive Kontent, a Vancouver-based content marketing agency, conducted an in-depth SEO analysis on the top performing comic news sites on the web. Massive Kontent specializes in building large data-driven content assets which are then promoted via paid social amplification and publicity campaigns.
In 2008, Marvel Studios released Iron Man which exceeded expectations paving the way for twelve more films by the end of 2016. In the same year, Warner Bros. debuted The Dark Knight which went on to earn over one billion USD at the box office and win two Academy Awards. Online coverage of superheroic films has intensified ever since. Over the last decade, comic industry news sites have grown into very lucrative web properties and integral parts of larger digital media portfolios.
“Once the major Hollywood studios gave top priority on their release schedules to movies based on comic book properties – comic industry news sites responded in kind, gradually shifting coverage over to the movies,” said Jason Thibault, owner, and operator of Massive Kontent. “I decided to look under the hood of the major sites like CBR.com and Newsarama – and see just how valuable they had become. Turns out, very valuable.”
The analysis was conducted in late September 2016 – after most of the year’s scheduled superhero films had been released and major comic conventions had taken place. Tools such as SEMrush and Buzzsumo were used to determine the search engine and social rankings of both traffic and content for each of the eight sites.
Data points included:
• Monthly search traffic volume: The number of users expected to visit the website in the following month on condition that average monthly organic traffic stays relatively the same.
• Ranking Keyword Quantities: The number of keywords bringing users to the website via Google’s top 100 organic search results.
• Search traffic value to each site: The estimated price of organic keywords in Google AdWords.
• Social Audience: The follower counts on all of the major social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
