Global emergency first response initiative for natural and man made disasters

Theme of 2017 Meeting of Global Emergency& Disaster Management Professionals Is: Cybersecurity, Emergency Management & Computing.

Orono, Maine. The U.S. Chapter of The International Emergency Management Society (TIEMS) will hold its third annual conference this year at the University of Maine in Orono June 12-16.

Presentations and tutorials by U. S. and international experts in the fields of emergency management, cybersecurity and computing will provide unique insights into these important topics. The five day event will also provide ample opportunity to share information and insights with other attendees and scheduled speakers. The conference will end on Friday with an all day excursion to Acadia National Park.

Among the featured speakers will be TIEMS President Harald Karl Drager, a founding member of TIEMS. With his extensive experience in industry, especially in emergency and risk management, his presentation will be one of the highlights of the conference. Mr. Drager now acts as the Managing Director of QUASAR Invest AS in Norway, a consultancy in global safety, emergency and disaster management.

Also featured will be TIEMS USA President Kay C. Goss, a founder and the President of the Council on Accreditation of Emergency Management Education, former Associate FEMA Director in charge of National Preparedness, Training, and Exercises. Ms. Goss is on the part-time Faculty at UNLV’s Executive Master’s Program in Crisis and Emergency Management and a Fellow at the National Academy of Public Administration. Her insights into the challenges of disaster response and preparedness are not to be missed.

The International Emergency Management Society was established in 1993 in Washington DC and provides a platform for all stakeholders within the global emergency and disaster management community to meet, network and learn about best practices as well as new technical and operational methodologies.
