Deadline and requirements for submission is April 4th

MIAMI – March 23, 2016 – The Miami Arts & Entertainment Council (MAEC) invites talented Miami artists, art students, up-and-coming artists and art aficionados to participate in its 5th annual art competition, “Paint Me Miami.”

“Paint Me Miami” is an open competition where all artists working in two-dimensional painting media are eligible to enter provided they meet the rules. To conform to the spirit of the awards, all work must be original and completed within the last two years and must not have won any previous prize or award in any other art competition. This year’s competition is focusing specifically on 24” x 36” paintings that are inspired by the City of Miami.

Works can be either representational or abstract, but must portray the sites and feelings of the city. All selected pieces will be included in an exhibition at the Bakehouse Art Complex with first place prizes of $2,000 to be awarded in each the abstract and representational categories with an additional award to be given the night of the event. Selected artists will have the opportunity to exhibit and sell their pieces during the cocktail reception at the Bakehouse Art Complex (561 NW 32nd Street), Thursday, May 12.

“The Miami Arts & Entertainment Council is proud to continue promoting arts and culture as a pivotal ingredient in Miami’s growth as a dynamic international city that is a showcase for emerging artists as well as masters,” added Mercedes Cisneros, member of MAEC.

About BAKE HOUSE ART COMPLEX

The Bakehouse Art Complex (BAC) is an incubator for artistic creativity featuring dozens of artists working side-by-side in every medium imaginable. In 1986, long before Wynwood was the place to be Second Saturdays for the monthly art walk – before it had any galleries at all – a group of artists transformed an abandoned bakery built in the 1920s and founded the non-profit Bakehouse Art Complex.

Today, the Bakehouse is not only a creative center, but also a vibrant community hub serving artists, patrons, art collectors and the South Florida community.
