Miami New Times Discusses Potential Dangers Highlighted In Xarelto Lawsuits
April 19, 2016 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on a recent news release from the Miami New Times which discusses the thousands of patients who are now suing the manufacturers of new-generation blood-thinning drug Xarelto. The news source makes note of the fact that this blood thinner is advertised by the Miami Heat’s Chris Bosh.
In one of these advertisements, according to Miami New Times, Bosh is seen sinking a 3-point shot in a dark gym, when he solemnly states, “When I was sidelined with blood clots in my lungs, it was serious…” he then notes, “Fortunately, my doctor had a game plan.”
Bosh has reportedly suffered from blood clot related health problems, which have in fact sidelined the all-star basketball player. The advertisements from Xarelto go on to indicate that the anticoagulant drug was the “right choice” for him. Xarelto has made billions for manufacturers Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, (a division of Johnson & Johnson corporation). Many plaintiffs who have referenced the drug in lawsuits today, however, indicate that these advertisements are misleading, and do not accurately depict the dangers surrounding Xarelto use.
Today, Xarelto has become the topic of over 3,400 lawsuits filed by plaintiffs from across the nation. These lawsuits have been formed into two major groupings. Over 2,800 of them have been transferred to a single court and consolidated by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation forming MDL 2592 in Eastern Louisiana, while another group of more than 620 lawsuits has been consolidated to form a mass tort program by the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
These thousands of plaintiffs commonly agree that Xarelto is not the “right move” for them. The news article discusses the case of a 37-year-old woman from South Florida who is employed as a medical technician. The woman says that she suffered terrifying blood loss while using Xarelto. She is quoted as saying, “I’ve seen that commercial with Bosh and the other guys, and it’s full of crap.” And also, “I just shake my head seeing them pushing this drug.”
The woman explains that while she was taking Xarelto, the drug had no available antidote for bleeding situations. She says that she was prescribed the blood thinner to treat an irregular heartbeat, but when she got her next period, she started to bleed much more heavily. In a short time, she states that she became so weak she was unable to walk. She was rushed to the emergency room and required a two-pint blood transfusion. “I could have bled to death,” she noted. “Thank God it was just my period and it wasn’t a head injury or something.”
The article also quotes Attorney Joseph Osborne, who practices law in Boca Raton and who is currently working to help others who have used Xarelto and have suffered from health complications that they believe were caused by the drug. Attorney Osborne is working to help ensure that everyone who feels they have been negatively affected by the drug will be given a chance to fully evaluate their legal rights in the matter. These patients could be entitled to significant compensation attained through legal action. To better assist those wishing to investigate their legal options, Attorney Osborne is also now offering free legal consultations for qualified parties.
