For the first time since its beginning in 1933, Miami, Florida is host of the 2017 Major League Baseball All-Star game and festivities. Marlins Park will become a hotbed of activity as MLB legends and current stars stand along side actors, musicians and entertainers for a variety of events beginning July 7th through the 11th.

“It’s exciting to finally get the All-Star game,” commented Manning Sumner, elite personal trainer and founder of Legacy Fit, Miami’s top bootcamp gym and pro athlete training facility. “Miami is a great city with awesome people. All-Star week will be an amazing time for everyone.”

From Fan-Fest, complete with MLB Legend autograph sessions to the Grand Finale MLB All-Star Game on July 11th, there is certainly something for every baseball fan.

“I enjoy watching the Home Run Derby, ” Sumner added. “I had the opportunity to train Matt Kemp this off season and his dedication and focus to better himself has truly paid off. I have yet to hear if he was voted into the game but he certainly is playing All-Star caliber baseball so far this year and I look for him to dominate the second half of the season as well.”

The primary event on July 10th, The Home Run Derby features last years winner, Miami Marlin slugger Giancarlo Stanton, who, with home field advantage, is a heavy favorite to take the HR crown for a second time.

“I grew up watching this,” Stanton said to MLB.com after a record setting win in 2016. “That’s where you built it up, childhood memories; now I will have kids saying the same thing. They watched me do this. I like to return the favor. Can’t speak for anyone else.”

Always an entertaining event, the MLB Legends and celebrity softball game features a performance by Miami native, Flo Rida and the participation of many Miami stars and Hall of Famers, such as Tim Raines and Ivan Rodriguez in addition to Olympic Gold and Silver medal winner, softball legend, Jennie Finch. Actor, Michael Cuditz, best known for his role as Abraham in “The Walking Dead” will, ironically, be swinging a bat along side “This is us” star, Justin Hartley, just to name a few of celebrities and MLB stars making up the star-studded teams.

For the younger attendees, the MLB creates an amazing youth sized, turf diamond and offers “PLAY BALL” activities throughout the All-Star festivities. In Miami, the PLAY BALL Park will be located
at Bayfront Park, 301 Biscayne Boulevard and will be available for parents and children beginning July 6th.

“Getting kids involved in sports, or at least active, has never been more important,” Sumner stated, the subject a passion of his. “With all of the distractions; technology, video games, I applaud the MLB and other pro organizations for developing programs for our young people. We hold an NBA youth basketball camp at Legacy Fit. It’s important.”
