Students who want to safely buy and sell items can do so with the Mijem app. The app is designed to enable students to buy and sell within their campuses, as well as across other college campuses in North America.

Mijem is free to join and can be used to trade everything from textbooks to electronics. Members can buy and sell on the Mijem website, as well as download the iOS or Android app to use on their mobile devices. The app has also been helping students during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing them to volunteer their help or request social support from others.

Listing products on Mijem is easy. Users only need to take a photo, add a description and price, and post their listing. Members have profiles and reviews so there are no anonymous sellers or buyers. Messaging and chat make it possible for users to talk to each other and create trusted connections. Trust is an important part of the Mijem app. It features a robust verification system to keep the app safe. A rating system allows members to leave ratings for those they have interacted with, as well as check people’s rating scores on their profiles.

There is also a social side to Mijem, with a rideshare feature available. Students who need to get somewhere or want to plan an adventure can split the cost of gas and get company for their journey too. They can also build community on their campus, with opportunities to connect with others. Students can chat and arrange meetups to get to know others. Recently, Mijem has been connecting volunteers with vulnerable members of communities to ensure they receive the support that they need.

While designed for interacting with fellow students on campus, the app can be used to buy and sell with students on other campuses too. Users only need to join the school they are interested in. No face-to-face meeting is necessary if the members don’t want to or it’s not practical. Credit card payment and contactless shipping are available too. However, members can choose to meet in person, although Mijem still recommends using credit card payments to protect their money.

There are no fees on Mijem to set up an account or list items. Service fees are paid by the seller when something sells, at $3.75 for purchases of $30 or less and 12.5% for sales of over $30. The buyer pays nothing and there is no credit card payment fee. Mijem can be used to buy and sell a broad range of goods and services, with the freedom to buy and sell and be social.
