Missing Australian Family Found: Keeping Safe When Skiing & Snowboarding in Japan
In the latest news to come out of Japan, missing Australian family who travelled to Nozawa Onsen, Japan for a ski holiday have been found.

Reports indicate that an Australian woman and her three sons had been skiing when they suddenly got lost. The family spent a night in the cold Japanese ski field, where temperatures can go as low as -10 degrees.
Japanese media reported that the family acted fast and were able to dig themselves into a snowhole near Mount Kenashi. There, they kept warm and supported each other as they awaited rescue from Nozawa Onsen authorities.
Following the disappearance of the Australian family, a post surfaced on the official Nozawa Onsen Facebook page warning all travellers to “Please be careful out there!”
The post went on to declare that “the snow is in parts deeper than head high. Don’t get yourself into anything you can’t get yourself out of”.
Dale Goulding, an experienced skier and managing director of Deep Powder Tours Ski Japan advises that “All travellers holidaying in any of Japan’s major ski fields should keep themselves
updated with daily snow reports. Being informed is the easiest way to prevent unexpected
situations from happening.”
