Mobile Phones Are Dirtier Than Toilet Seats, New Study Shows

August 24, 2017 – – Fort Mayers, Florida: Big Sky Products LLC has highlighted a new study which shows that mobile phones are 10 times dirtier than toilet seats as a part of their technology product cleaning initiative.

People at this day and age are obsessed with using their phones at all times – they use them while they eat, while they are at work and even while they use the restroom. But it is this constant contact that makes it easy for one’s phone to become a breeding ground for germs and bacteria.

According to Andrew Ried, a spokesperson for Big Sky Products, “Due to our constant interaction with technology products, we do not realize exactly how gross our phones and tablets can be. Therefore, it is important to keep these gadgets clean by using products such as an electronic wipe that is made especially for this purpose”

In a study conducted at the University of Arizona, it was found that cell phones carry 10 times more bacteria than most toilet seats with over 17,000 bacterial genes being found on the phones of high school students. For comparison, one smartphone can have up to 140 units of Staphylococcus aureus while an office toilet can have a maximum of 20 units of the same germ.

This news can be further corroborated through the landmark study conducted at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Queen Mary, University of London. It was found that 1 in every 6 phones is contaminated with fecal matter and can host serious pathogens such as the E. coli bacteria. This means that phones can have more bacteria than the acceptable TVC (Total Viable Count) required for maintaining general hygiene standards.

Clearly, it is important to keep one’s phone clean to avoid exposure to unnecessary diseases. This can be done using special disinfecting screen cleaning wipes that can clean electronic surfaces without leaving any streaks or lint behind.
