Moon Secret Books Releases New Children’s Video Book “Ladybug Sophie”

May 20, 2019 – – The award-winning Moon Secret Books recently published a new video book for children, titled “Ladybug Sophie.”

Moon Secret Books creates original videobooks for kids, with animations and illustrations by sibling team Olo and Gemma Gariel. The passion-driven writer and musical composer Gemma Gariel is the heart at the center of Moon Secret Books, creating every story from scratch with the purpose of entertaining the little ones. In her newest story, she strives to convey the emotions of her childhood, presented in a format that appeals to younger generations.

The video book introduces its title character: “Ladybug Sophie, a gourmet chef, may not be movie star thin, but because she is full of love, she is as beautiful as any movie star. Ladybug Sophie shines from within with the light of Love—a light that makes the sun look pale. Love… it’s delicious! Go ahead and have that second helping!”

While the premise of the video book may seem simple at first glance, Gemma states that she tries to deliver a powerful message in the simplest manner. Gemma offers more detail regarding the memories that led to the creation of each of her stories, saying, “The idea of these whimsical children’s stories come from me and my brother’s childhood. We grew up in Europe, where we thankfully had the opportunity to experience, first-hand, some of the most renowned pieces of art and music.”

It was this contact with famous works of art in the earliest stages of their lives that first inspired the siblings, and since shaped their work. Gemma continued, “Each fairy tale presented has a moral. The dark forces never win and it is only the power of love that can bring goodness. Enjoying a fantasy world can open children’s mind to a multidimensional universe, stimulating imagination and creative thinking.”

With these goals in mind, Gemma and her brother hope to inspire children in the same way they were influenced by the amazing artwork that they came across during their childhood. The siblings state “If, through our work, we are able to positively influence at least one kid, then it is all worth it.”

All of the videobooks published by the siblings follow the same principles, and they are all carefully constructed to avoid being repetitive in order to encourage children to keep watching. Gemma is a former member of the New York Metropolitan Orchestra. She now dedicates herself full time to the production of Moon Secret’s videobooks. Her background allows her to confidently create the musical compositions for the videobooks. She says, “I am delighted to have lived in a house where I was able to sing La Vie En Rose, to beautiful, actual living roses. Through my music, I want children to connect with nature, in the same manner, I did back when the rose’s perfume sang back to me, creating the most amazing duets.”

Her brother Olo is in charge of all the illustrations and animations for the videobooks. He has taken care to portray all his work in a style that is most appealing to children, with a wide palette of colors that can easily catch a young child’s attention. Olo has more than 40 years of experience in the movie-making industry, creating more than 50 animated films for renowned companies such as Nickelodeon, HBO, Cartoon Network, and so on. Through his film work, the acclaimed illustrator has earned a number of international awards and had his drawings published by the New York Times and People magazine, as well as other European publishers.
