MVC Technologies Inc. Introduces a New Software Platform Aimed at Improving Secure Documentation Management under the MMPR Between Physicians and Licensed Producers in the Medical Cannabis Industry

TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / March 16, 2015 / MVC Technologies Inc., a Canadian healthcare IT solutions company, is set to launch My Virtual Clinic, a new integrated and revolutionary software platform designed for the Medical Marijuana Industry. In partnership with Health Quality Innovation Collaborative (HQIC), winners in the Outcomes Challenge by Canada Health Infoway, MVC Technologies has developed a platform which creates a secure and regulated environment for health care practitioners, Licensed Producers and cannabis patients.

The new Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR), enables health care practitioners to authorize patient access to medical cannabis through the completion of a medical document. The current system however, offers limited control in ensuring patients follow the medical document appropriately by legally obtaining medical cannabis from a Licensed Producer and not a dispensary or compassion club. Under the MMPR, many unsecure and time consuming manual procedures exist that could result in noncompliance. 

My Virtual Clinic, releasing nation-wide, will improve the workflow between health care practitioners and Licensed Producers to provide better patient management, by allowing users to securely access and electronically verify medical documents and complete registration applications. All documents are stored within the platform, limiting access and regulating its transmission. This software solution assists health care practitioners and Licensed Producers in creating traceable and auditable documentation to ensure compliance under the MMPR guidelines, Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and with applicable medical regulatory requirements in view.
