Myron Moorehead Launches ProCare Counseling Initiative to End Prescription Drug Abuse
ProCare Counseling Gives Individualized Opioid Education and Counseling to Patients and Risk Management Packages to Physicians
LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 8, 2016 / Myron Moorehead, the former owner and operator of a successful pain management practice, recently announced the launch of his new initiative, ProCare Counseling, a proactive addiction and education center that combats prescription
drug abuse. The center will offer education, counseling, and risk-management practices for physicians, which makes patients more responsible for opioid therapy and lowers the physician’s risk of treating the patient.
In the medical industry, some patients are more likely to abuse or become addicted to opioids, but there is no clear way to identify such patients before the misuse occurs. In order to stop the abuse of drugs, the United States relies on 10 standard strategies that include drug monitoring, prescriber education, pharmacy lock-in programs, and physical exam requirements. However, some people believe that the best way to stop opioid addiction is to engage in proactive addiction counseling that identifies and helps patients who may be more at risk than others.
ProCare Counseling will use quarterly visits to keep patients more compliant with opiod education. It will also provide patients with one-on-one addiction counseling. Although ProCare has already been test marketed through 5,000 visits, Moorehead has taken his campaign to Indiegogo in order to raise the necessary funds to bring the idea to life. In exchange for the support of the public, Moorehead is offering a wide variety of perks, such as teddy bears and embroidered polos, to donors.
“You must educate chronic pain management patients to understand that 100 percent of their pain is not relievable, nor is it realistic or attainable,” said Moorehead. “The patient must understand the true goals of pain management, which is to reduce pain, and most importantly, increase their quality of life. By providing them education and counseling, the patient will learn and attain more realistic goals, and how to live life as a chronic pain patient.”

About ProCare Counseling:
Myron Moorehead launched an IndieGoGo campaign to release nationwide ProCare Counseling, the first pro-active addiction counseling and opioid education business in the entire United States. The program was designed to give patients individualized counseling and opioid education. On average, one person dies every 19 minutes from prescription drug abuse. As one of the biggest man-made epidemics in the United States, the prescription drug abuse problem has quickly become a top public health concern—prescription drug-related deaths now outnumber those from heroin and cocaine combined, and drug overdose deaths exceed motor vehicle-related deaths.
