Nebraska Xarelto Lawsuit Plaintiffs Allege Drug Caused Serious And Permanent Damage
April 19, 2016 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on another lawsuit which has been filed against Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a division of Johnson & Johnson) and manufacturer of new-generation blood thinner Xarelto. This particular complaint was filed in Eastern Louisiana under case number 2:15-cv-06514. It was filed by a couple from Nebraska who allege that Janssen marketed a dangerous blood thinner which caused the husband certain serious and lasting side effects including internal bleeding events and a decreased life expectancy.
It was reported that the husband was prescribed Xarelto and used it May 2013 through December 2013. In December, he suffered from a sudden gastrointestinal bleeding episode. The plaintiffs allege that this event was caused by Xarelto, and are requesting compensatory and punitive damages at this time.
Many plaintiffs from across the United States have stepped forward alleging much the same. Xarelto has in fact become the subject of over 3,400 lawsuits filed within the last 5 years alone, by plaintiffs who commonly claim that the anticoagulant places users at heightened risk for a variety of negative side effects, but most commonly bleeding events. Lawsuits which have been federally-filed were transferred and consolidated to a single court in Eastern Louisiana by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, forming MDL No. 2592. These complaints currently number over 2,800, and are joined by over 620 others in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania which were formed into a mass tort program by the Court of Common Pleas.
Plaintiffs involved in these lawsuit groupings are anxiously awaiting trial dates as new controversies surrounding the clinical trials of Xarelto and FDA approval of the drug have surfaced. Attorney Joseph Osborne believes that other lawsuits will continue to be filed in the meantime, and is currently working to help other patients who have taken Xarelto and who have suffered from adverse health events that they believe were caused by the blood thinner. Affected patients may be entitled to substantial compensation, and deserve the opportunity to explore their legal rights in the matter fully. To better assist those interested in learning more about their options, Attorney Osborne is currently offering free legal consultations to qualified individuals.
