London, United Kingdom – August 26, 2016 /PressCable/ —
Speaker and author Bryan Barrow is launching his brand new book, “The Project Planning Workshop Handbook”. The book is set to go live August 26th, available through Amazon and online and is expected to become a big hit with project managers and the wider project management community.
More information on the book can be found here: http://ProjectManagementSpeaker.com
This is the second book Bryan has authored. The book was written with the aim in mind to teach project management professionals an easy, step-by-step approach to collaborative project planning. There’s also particular excitement about this launch because it slashes the time taken to plan and mobilise projects and creates high levels of stakeholder engagement.
The Project Planning Workshop Handbook sets its main focus on teaching the “Index Card Planning” method, an interactive approach which typically creates a detailed project plan in just a few hours from start to finish. Readers will likely find a particular interest in planning projects using index cards. The results of the planning workshop can be directly fed into project planning software such as MS Project, Primavera, Jira, Clarizen or Trello,
Bryan Barrow has a background in more than 25 years in project management. This helped shaped the creation of the book; in his experience the root cause of many failed projects can be traced back to poor planning.
When asked about why he wrote the book, Bryan said: “I decided to write this book when I realised just how few people are taught how to lead a project kickoff workshop. The secret to success is in encouraging the whole team to create the plan together. This method shows you how to do that.”
Bryan has hopes that the book will give project managers the tools they need to plan any project with complete confidence. As evidence he recalls a colleague who called him for help late one afternoon with a planning workshop taking place the very next morning. Despite having less than 18 hours before the start of the event, Mr Barrow wrote and sent over a bare-bones guide that explained how he ran his workshops. 24 hours after that cry for help he got another cal from the same colleague, thanking Bryan for a very successful workshop. That guide was the genesis of the book.
In a recent interview, the author made a point of thanking his clients, whose feedback has helped to shape and refine the method for their part in the creation of the book, saying: “I’d also like to thank Tom Smith, whose call for help led to the creation of the initial guide.”
