New Puppy Obedience Training Tips Released For Chihuahua Breeds

April 03, 2015 – – People who have a chihuahua will know just how temperamental this breed can be. This is why new puppy obedience training information has now been released specifically for people who love chihuahua breeds. This information should demonstrate to people how they can get the most out of their puppy and build a loving relationship with their four legged friend.

“Chihuahuas really are a breed apart,” explains Derrick Grant. “They are incredibly small, but they pack a huge punch. They are known as ankle biters, particularly if they are not trained properly. However, train them well with some good puppy obedience training and they really are fantastic little dogs.”

Chihuahua breeds originally came from Mexico. They are still officially the smallest dog breed in the world, and they have gained popularity as A-listers and socialites started owning them as a type of accessory. Indeed, they are so small that they can easily be carried along in a handbag. There has been an outcry about the fact that these dogs are seen as accessories, because they have very specific needs and they require good training in order to make sure they are well-behaved.

Chihuahuas are very fast dogs, particularly if they have shorter legs, and they are formidable jumpers. Where those with longer legs can be quite clumsy and become highly aware of their movements, sometimes appearing clumsy, this is not seen in the purebred, KC registered chihuahuas. Officially, when a chihuahua is KC registered, owners must find boy or girl puppy names that continue on with the line of their pedigree.

What is more important than the name, however, is that these dogs are trained properly. Because of their size, speed and agility, it is all too easy for this type of dog to run off or get in places where they shouldn’t be. Hence, as a new chihuahua owner, training needs to start straight away.

“Most people will start with house training their pet,” adds Derrick Grant. “However, if you have taken your puppies home at the right age, their mothers should have already taught them this. As such, as a puppy owner, teaching your dog commands such as “stay”, “down” and “sit” is perhaps even more important. Gaining excellent recall is also vital.”

Chihuahuas are sweet and loving dogs. However, they need a very strong disciplinarian owner, or they will take over one’s home. This requires someone who is diligent, patient and consistent in their training. Chihuahuas, as such, are not an accessory. Indeed, they are far too flighty to be carried around in a bag unless they have been trained properly. This can be achieved through good puppy obedience training and by reading up on fantastic hints and tips to get the most out of this training. If this is successful, then chihuahuas will happily spend most of their day in a bag being carried around to shopping centers and other social event.
