New SimSports Virtual Reality Ontario, Oregon

SimSports today has made public that its ‘simulated sports and virtual reality gaming center’ is now open for business at 199 S Oregon St, Ontario, Oregon. Gamers and golfers alike should find this particularly exciting.

The idea for creating a simulated sports and virtual reality gaming entertainment center came about after the owner, Kelly Nelson, who is a deputy sheriff in Ontario, Oregon wanted something for people to do to have good, clean fun.

SimSports currently has 3 simulated golf stations, 2 simulated racing stations, a simulated shooting range, a simulated fishing station, a virtual reality gaming station, and 2 pool tables. Technically, it opened for business in March, 2017, however, during the last several months, SimSports has been building out stations and continually expanding the fun as they go along. Some of the stations took months of testing and tweaking to get situated just right, with Kelly Nelson and his wife, Mandy, both working on them. This goes to show how difficult setting up and adjusting simulated systems can be. “It took lots of trial and error to get things to work right [while] learning to set up and configure the systems”, says Kelly Nelson. The problem was overcome by inviting people to come in and try things out for free while the couple worked out the bugs.

Customers love SimSports because there is nothing like it within 50 miles and SimSports is almost a fourth the price of similar locations in Boise.

The simulated sports and virtual reality gaming center was developed as part of the Nelson’s plans to provide entertainment for individuals, friends, and families. The Nelsons hope to make enough of an income so Mandy Nelson can achieve her goal of staying home with their new baby by March of 2018.

SimSports got it’s start when Founder Kelly Nelson noticed a growing need for people to have a place to go to have good, clean fun. He wanted a place for people to hang out and enjoy themselves. While Kelly Nelson has played video games since he was a little kid, he had zero prior experience with virtual reality and simulation systems in the entertainment world. In spite of this, Kelly Nelson decided to go ahead and start in March of 2017.

Connecting with customers is important to SimSports. Kelly Nelson is quoted saying: “We like to greet customers when they come in, show them around, see what they want to do, and then help them out. We want a drug and alcohol-free place for families to hang out.”
