Māori-owned Miraka, the Mokai-based New Zealand dairy-processing business, announces the release of Whaiora – its new natural smoothie, which has been in development since 2015. The main aim is to give health conscious consumers the opportunity to make it easy to get their daily natural goodness by simply enjoying a delicious Whaiora smoothie…. but it does so, with a difference.

Eric Balinghasay, Global Marketing & Business Development Manager at Whaiora, says: “We wanted to try something new with Whaiora. Anyone familiar with the smoothie market will probably have noticed how the standard practice is to compromise ingredients to enhance flavour. This is a problem because adding sugar and artificial sweeteners is really no longer acceptable to many consumers.”

So as a welcome breath of fresh air, Whaiora instead sources only the finest fruits, vegetables, oats, milk and honey to provide consumers with a natural smoothie that provides a nutritional balance to their day. Miraka and the Whaiora Team chose to make this move from the very outset of the Whaiora smoothie project. From day one, they were on a quest to develop and deliver a completely natural smoothie. Wherever possible, these ingredients are sourced from New Zealand growers and suppliers. These growers and suppliers have been rigorously checked and meticulously selected to meet the exacting quality, ethical and sustainability standards of Miraka and Whaiora.
