Newly Launched Hound Makerspace Helps Give Artisans the Space they Need to be Successful

Located in the Austin, TX Region, Hound Makerspace will Assist in Promoting Small Manufacturing Businesses

LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / September 14, 2016 / Celina Muire, a woodworker and pyrographer based in Austin, Texas, is pleased to announce the launch of her innovative new project called Hound Makerspace.

As a spokesperson for Hound Makerspace noted, more crafters, smiths, woodworkers, and other creators are turning to online marketplaces to get their products attention. Demand for handmade or American manufactured goods is rising, but the process of selling is time consuming and challenging.

“Hound Makerspace is aiming to give artisans the tools they need to create a successful business. The idea is to promote goods made with ethical labor and give small handmade product-oriented businesses a hand in competing with larger brands by bringing them attention,” the spokesperson said.

Muire was inspired to create Hound Makerspace based on her own experiences. Shortly after opening an online store for her handmade items, Muire realized that she was spending a huge amount of time selling the products – in most cases, even more hours than she spent making them.

“Countless hours were spent on photography, website updates, talking to wholesale buyers, making store visits, and searching for local collaborators for developing projects,” she said, adding that after speaking with dozens of local makers, she realized she was not alone in her challenges.

People who purchase a Hound membership will get much more than square footage in which to work. Muire said makers will also get access to photography tools, brand identity development, legal resources, communal support, 3D Printing, and workshop opportunities.

In order to help pay for the initial start-up costs associated with launching Hound Makerspace, including websites, SOS registration and attorney fees, Muire recently launched a fundraiser on Kickstarter. She hopes to raise $5,000 through crowdfunding to provide makers a place to be successful.

“I truly believe that Hound can help foster small manufacturing businesses in the Austin area and promote American made goods using ethical labor and locally sourced materials. Hound will contribute to the most significant elements of Austin as one of the most creative cities in the world,” Muire said.
