Ohio Construction Worker Fatally Wounded In Tragic Fall, Cues Response By Construction Accident Lawyer

July 04, 2016 – – Thomas Moverman of LipsigLawyers.com recently commented on a tragic death in Willow Springs, Illinois, where a 43-year-old Ohio construction worker plummeted to his death while at a local worksite. Moverman sends his sincere condolences to the family of the fallen victim and is deeply sorry for their loss. Additionally, Attorney Moverman hopes that federal lawmakers and regulators will view this tragic event, as another indicator of the necessity to revise the current construction safety rules and regulations.

According to a local report from The Chicago Sun Times, an Ohio man fell to his death from an asphalt tank that was under construction, on June 20th. Shortly after the accident, the man was pronounced dead at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital at 11:18 a.m. The medical examiner’s office claimed that the man’s unexpected death was the result of several blunt-force injuries sustained in the fall, and deemed the death an accident. An OSHA ( The Occupational Safety & Health Administration) spokeswoman stated, “He fell from a 48-by-140 asphalt tank that was under construction at the time,” and confirmed that OSHA’s investigation is currently on-going.

OSHA concluded that of the 4,386 worker fatalities in 2014 within private industry, over 20 percent of them were work-related fatalities in the construction industry. There were 899 construction worker deaths in 2014, and nearly 60 percent of them were result of one of the four leading causes of death, also known as the ‘Fatal Four.’ Construction’s ‘Fatal Four’ includes fatal injuries caused by falls, electrocutions, being struck by objects, or being stuck in between or inside equipment. The cause of death for the Willow Springs victim is currently the number one cause of death for construction workers, in fact, falls accounted for nearly 40 percent of 2014’s construction worker death toll, and left nearly 360 workers wounded.
