Personal Injury Lawyer Comments On Construction Accident In Toronto
July 17, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman stated last month that the injuries of construction workers in Toronto are yet another example of the need for scrutiny in construction safety procedures. Moverman wished the men a speedy recovery.
CTV News Toronto reported last month that one construction worker was seriously injured and another suffered minor injuries after an industrial accident on the Burlington Skyway. Three construction workers were trying to install an electrical cable about 35 meters above ground when it snapped. One worker was knocked unconscious. A worker was taken to Hamilton General Hospital with serious and potentially life-threatening injuries. Another was taken to a local hospital, suffering minor injuries. A third worker did not have any injuries, the report said.
Toronto is not the only place dealing with the need to improve safety for construction workers. In the U.S. the OSHA reported that more than 20 percent of all work-related fatalities in 2013 were employed in the construction industry and that one in five of the 4,821 reported fatalities in 2014 were also in the construction industry. The most common forms of injury in the construction business include slips, trips, and falls. These types of accidents in addition to electrocution and being stuck between objects or struck by them, accounted for over half of construction worker deaths in 2014, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman have been representing victims of construction accidents for years. The firm has successfully obtained millions in settlements for those victims and strongly believes in fighting for the compensation victims need and deserve. Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman is currently looking to assist those individuals who have been injured in a construction accident and qualifying individuals may be entitled to financial compensation.
