Personal Injury Lawyer Comments On DeWitt Steel Beam Crane Accident

July 05, 2016 – – Thomas Moverman of LipsigLawyers.com recently commented on a development near Syracuse, New York, where a local 27-year-old DeWitt man was injured at a nearby construction site. Moverman hopes that the victim is able to make a complete, speedy recovery from his injuries, and recommends that the victim thoroughly explore his legal options. Attorney Moverman is thankful that the local man survived the impact of the steel beam and noted that in several previous cases involving a steel beam, victims sustained fatal injuries.

According to a local report from Syracuse.com, on the morning of June 27th, a local man was wounded when he was struck by a steel beam. The DeWitt Police Captain indicated that the man was struck by the steel beam, while it was attached to a crane. First responders were called to the scene shortly after the incident, and they quickly transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment and assessment of his injuries. The victim has since been stabilized, and local officials along with OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) representatives have begun an investigation.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicated that in 2014, 73 construction workers were killed after being struck by objects. Being struck by objects was the number 3 leading cause of death for construction workers in 2014, and is a member of construction’s ‘Fatal Four.’ The ‘Fatal Four’ are the four leading causes of death for construction workers, and in addition to being struck by objects, also includes deaths from falls, electrocutions, and being stuck in between equipment or objects. The ‘Fatal Four’ accounted for nearly 60 percent of construction worker deaths in 2014, and if eliminated, the BLS predicts at least 500 worker lives per year would be saved.

Thomas Moverman of Lipsig, Shapey, Manus, & Moverman is currently offering all construction accident victims a free legal consultation, with the hope that each victim will completely explore their legal rights, and options.
