In anticipation of the release of a new model of their Flow-Tech Home unit, Plumber’s Choice Water Systems is expanding their efforts to inform potential partners of their opportunity to benefit from the sale of their exclusive products and knowledge of the market’s demands. Plumber’s Choice wants to help licensed service contractors make water treatment a profit center in their businesses.
Water treatment systems are no longer a luxury.
Water quality awareness continues to grow, along with the push to find green alternatives for treating water effectively. “Water treatment is no longer a luxury, but a necessity, which is why many plumbers see it as a responsibility to offer appropriate solutions to their clients,” says Nicole Ross, Marketing Specialist for Plumber’s Choice. “The products and training available through a partnership with Plumber’s Choice give service providers the ability to improve client water quality and their own bottom lines at the same time.”
With increasing consumer consciousness regarding plastic bottle waste and impurities in drinking water and many states experiencing shortages of clean water, more people are installing water filters on their homes. The systems offered through Plumber’s Choice provide a complete line of products that reduce and remove undesirable substances from a home’s water supply.
Water conditioners are necessary in many markets — and desirable in most others— to control the problems associated with limescale build-up. While Plumber’s Choice offers traditional water softeners, they also have exclusive rights to offer the Flow-Tech Home system, which provides a viable alternative to traditional water softeners, working dramatically more effectively and eliminating the need for salts, magnetic coils, and chemicals. Ross explains: “The Flow-Tech Home system uses a patented conduction method that treats all the water in a home 24 hours a day, regardless of whether water is flowing or not. And the release of the newest MAX model of the Flow-Tech Home unit will make it possible for even more people to use a maintenance-free, chemical-free system to condition their water. By adding the Flow-Tech Home anti-scale system to their line of products, contractors will be able to provide customers with complete, maintenance-free, whole house water treatment systems.”
This isn’t a sale — it’s a relationship.
Plumber’s Choice has built a model based on education first, followed but providing the best available full range of contractor-only water treatment products. “But this is not a standard vendor relationship,” says David Johnson, National Trainer for Plumber’s Choice. “Plumber’s Choice works with managers and technicians to first understand the need for water treatment and then become knowledgeable enough to provide the best solutions for their clients. When we do our job as educators, the customer benefits from getting a complete solution, and the business benefits with increased revenues.” Partners receive ongoing product and presentation skills training.
Plumber’s Choice helps service providers determine how to select the appropriate products for their markets, taking into consideration chlorine and chloramine issues, the types of residences served, and hard water levels in their areas. They conduct in-person, complete-staff trainings and reinforce learning with ongoing training opportunities such as webinars, information sessions, and follow-up visits. “We make sure that all staff members in trainings understand the needs of their market, the products to address those needs, and how to educate their clients on both,” says Johnson. “Plumber’s Choice is committed to providing training opportunities for teams quarterly — because staying informed means experiencing the full benefit that water treatment can have on a business.” And when it comes to marketing, Plumber’s Choice will provide their partners with web pages, postcards, email templates, or anything else needed to reach customers.
“The Plumber’s Choice program combines the knowledge of how to identify customer needs and access to superior water treatment systems to meet those needs with extensive product education, sales training, and ongoing marketing and technical support,” says Ross. Plumber’s Choice is so confident that this plan will be successful for any contractor willing to work the program that they’ll buy back any initial stock purchased that remains on shelves for more than 90 days.
