Potential E-Cigarette Explosion Lawsuits, As Serious Injuries Sustained During E-Cig Explosions Reported By Seattle Hospitals
July 16, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on the increased number of incidences of e-cigarette explosions. E-Cigs were introduced to the market in 2007 and since then the number of explosions related to the devices has increased dramatically. From 2009 through to the present date, 199 explosions have been reported. In 2016, there have been 77 already which is 30 more than the total for 2015. Explosions of the units have been reported throughout America, Europe and Asia, with the West Coast of the United States reaching 30 percent in 2009, which equates to 58 explosion episodes.
Explosions of e-cigs have happened under a number of circumstances which include while being used, when the devices are charging, or right in the pockets of e-cig users. Injuries from the explosions have ranged from significant burns, cuts, lacerations, and in some cases, victims have lost their eyesight or have experienced mutilation damage to limbs.
As per a report by the Seattle Times, since the fall of 2015 there have been at least 14 e-cig users that have been treated or had to be hospitalized because of explosions. A recent episode occurring on June 5th injured a man from Kirkland whose e-cig exploded in his back pocket. Resulting from the explosion were third-degree burns on the back of one of the man’s legs, most likely necessitating skin graft surgery. It has been reported that in June alone, 2 victims have been treated at Harborview Burn Center for injuries sustained from exploding e-cigs.
Attorney Marc Freund of LipsigLawyers.com, has stated that that the report by the Seattle Times is troubling and that e-cigs can potentially hold hidden dangers for users. Attorney Freund extends his best wishes to the victims and hopes that they are able to make a full recovery from their injuries.
