Potential E-Cigarette Lawsuit Cases To Stem From E-Cigarette Explosion In Tustin Man’s Face
June 11, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Marc Freund recently commented on the development in Tustin, California where a local man sustained injuries to his face following an e-cigarette explosion. Freund notes that “It is unforgivable that these electronic cigarettes, which are marketed as a safe replacement for smoking, actually present immediate dangers.” Attorney Freund urges the victim to remain optimistic while being treated and hopes that he is able to make a full recovery.
The condition of the victim is unclear according to NBC Los Angeles. As detailed in the local report, on June 4th in Tustin, California, a local man was smoking his e-cigarette when the device exploded. The Orange County Fire Authority indicate that a call came in at 10:30 p.m. with reports of a man burning, shortly after firefighters were on the scene. The victim sustained severe burns and cuts from the e-cig exploding in his face and has since been taken to a local hospital.
Regrettably this is not the first e-cigarette explosion. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) previously reported that there were 25 estimated e-cigarette explosions in total. However, new reports from TheProductLawyers.com with assistance from ECigOne.com have indicated that since August of 2009, there have been 193 recorded e-cig explosions.
Based off of the updated reports, the rate of e-cig explosions since 2009, has increased exponentially on a year-to-year basis. FEMA was correct, however, when stating that most of the e-cig explosions occurred while the lithium-ion battery was charging. Often times the e-cigarette would explode due to a voltage overload brought upon by a car outlet, or a computer’s USB port.
A similar e-cig explosion occurred in Albany on May 19th, where a young man’s device exploded during use, which knocked out several of the victim’s teeth, disfigured his tongue, and left his hands covered in severe burns. With the growing popularity of e-cigarettes, the risk of future explosions also increases.
Attorney Marc Freund of Lipsig, Shapey, Manus, & Moverman is hoping to assist all victims of e-cigarette explosions. Attorney Freund urges all individuals who have been affected by these devices to explore their complete legal rights.
