Fastback under auction is one of only two available in Australia. Both vehicles will be auctioned completely unreserved.
The 1953 Holden FJ Dual Cab Ute is a burgundy metallic pearl vehicle with a white leather interior. Its restoration took 6 years to complete at a cost of approximately $500, 000. The 1969 Ford Torino Talladega Fastback is in a pristine state. The model was manufactured for a period of only 8 weeks during the first weeks of 1969. It won 29 Grand National races during the 1969 and 1970 NASCAR season.
The vehicles are a testament to the love of their current owners and an appreciation for the enduring beauty and history of classic cars. Both vehicles have withstood several decades of wear and are being auctioned in perfect condition. It’s more about the value of classic cars as a principle than it necessarily is about financial profit. These vehicles are expected to attracts hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The undisclosed current owner of the 1953 FJ Dual Cab Ute said “when Holden decided to shut down manufacturing in Australia, I decided to shut down my collection. And this is the last piece.”
Saturday’s ‘Classic, Muscle & Barn Finds Auto Auction’ is attracting the media. The onsite auction will be family friendly and will include a sausage sizzle. The online auction is already underway with strong interest from various national and international bidders. Inspection is open from 8am until 12PM on Saturday.
Previous auctions of classic cars by Lloyds Auctioneers & Valuers have experienced high levels of success. Interest was so large that over 2 million people viewed one post in the lead up to a recent on-site auction held at Hampton, just outside of Toowoomba in September.
“We’re passionate about auctions and were passionate about cars” said Bill Freeman, head of Lloyds Auctions Classic Car Division. “I own an XU-1 and a Sandman myself and being around these cars day-in day-out, and selling them, it’s like I’d pay the boss to come to work type stuff.”
