Ray Quick and RQ Productions Presents “Eight Parts of Life” an Organ Donation Awareness Stage Play Production

RQ Productions’ “Eight Parts of Life” stage play offers an unique insight into the critical shortage of organ, eye and tissue donors. The Collaborative Donor Drive Benefiting New York City takes place at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.

The event will take place at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College October 10, 2015 where New York City Council Member Costa Constantinides is scheduled to be one of the guest speakers. Constantinides, who has been an advocate for organ donation recently announced two bills that would decrease the barriers that he says prevent a lot of New Yorkers from signing up to be a donor. New York state is ranked 50th nationwide when it comes to percentage of the population that’s registered for organ donation, only 24% compared to the 50% national average. Every 18 hours someone in New York state dies waiting for an organ, said Constantinides.

“We are in a public health crisis in terms of organ donation. It is evident that more needs to be done to encourage people to donate and remove any barriers that might be in place that prevent people from becoming living organ donors,” the councilman said in a statement.

Written and produced by multi talented Ray Quick, “Eight Parts of Life” brings family reality to the stage. This heartfelt narrative delivers a riveting performance with a dual story-line highlighting the challenges and struggles of blended families, complicated by a young child’s battle with severe kidney disease and the need for a lifesaving kidney transplant. The play is structured to facilitate awareness and communication about the incredible need for lifesaving organs in this country. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit New York City in its efforts to educate the public and bring awareness to the cause.
