RBCC: Sobering Stats Show Growing Need for Affordable Alcoholism Treatment

HENDERSON, NV / ACCESSWIRE / April 4, 2016 / Recent scientific research has shown that alcohol is among the 10 most addictive drugs in existence, and trails only tobacco among legally obtainable substances and ranks nearly as potent as barbiturates when illegal ones are included. Rainbow Coral Corp. (OTCQB: RBCC) takes these findings as a serious sign that more research and treatment options are needed in order to successfully combat alcohol’s powerful addictive pull.

“Don’t misunderstand, we’re not calling for a return to Prohibition,” said RBCC CEO Kimberly Palmer, referring to the infamous attempt to outlaw the production and sale of all types of liquor in the U.S. from 1920 to 1933.

“Millions of people responsibly enjoy alcoholic beverages every day,” she said. “But there are a substantial number who become addicted to it and their bodies become trapped. They need help to kick this addiction. Unfortunately, that help often comes at a steep price and as a result, tens of thousands who want help are priced out of a solution. We aim to change this and are actively seeking partners to join us in developing and creating a series of low-cost, affordable alcoholism treatment centers to provide that help people desperately want.”

Recent studies have shown nearly 17 million Americans are now dependent on alcohol. However, only 2.5 million people have received treatment for their addiction, many due to cost concerns.

Research indicates that every dollar invested in effective substance abuse treatment yields government and society a 12-1 ratio of benefits in lower healthcare costs, reduced drug-related crime and decreased criminal justice costs.
