Revolutionary Brands Inc. Weighs in on Whether Smartphones Cause Wrinkles

Revolutionary Brands Inc. comments on research suggesting that overusing smartphones and other devices can cause premature skin ageing.

Toronto, Canada, January 28, 2016 – Revolutionary Brands Inc. (www.RevBrandsInc.com), a seller and distributor of unique products throughout North America, is weighing in on whether smartphones and other electronic devices cause premature wrinkles.

New research is suggesting that the high energy visible (HEV) light emitted from electronics can damage skin and cause premature ageing. According to dermatologists, HEV light is actually worse for skin than UV light from the sun. That’s because HEV light penetrates the skin deeper than UV light, which can cause DNA damage. This damage activates enzymes involved in skin repair, leading to wrinkles, creases, and other signs of aging. “It has been known for a long time that there are a variety of factors which accelerate skin ageing, including sun damage, and now smartphones can be added to the list,” says Brett Lawson, Owner of Revolutionary Brands Inc. “It looks like overusing electronic devices can add wrinkles to the face, among having other damaging effects.”

Unlike UV light, HEV light does not cause redness or irritation, which means the damage can go unnoticed. HEV light is also said to contribute to other skin issues, such as sagging skin and dry skin. For anyone concerned about wrinkles, smartphone use should be limited.

One way to combat the harmful effects of electronic devices is by using sunblock, which also helps reduce the damaging effects of HEV light on the skin. In addition, using a skincare cream or moisturizer with ingredients clinically proven to repair wrinkles can help minimize the damage.

“If anyone is worried about wrinkles, they need to have a skincare routine,” Lawson explains. “Using the right cream can extend the life of skin and actually reduce the wrinkles a person already has. Consumers need to look for ingredients such as Matrixyl and allantoin, which have proven benefits for reducing wrinkles or improving skin hydration.”

As the research continues to grow about the damaging effects of HEV, some people may be worried about their electronic use. It’s not realistic for anyone to avoid their phones or electronics completely, but there are many things which can be done to minimize damage. Applying sunblock and using a moisturizer cream daily are some of the most effective ways to prevent wrinkles and skin ageing.

“This is having a damaging effect on our skin, but it still needs to be determined what the extent of the damage is,” Lawson concludes. “The research on this is still new, and it may be too early to have seen the long-term effects of electronic overuse. This could be found to be a minor player in the development of wrinkles, but the evidence is really starting to suggest otherwise.”

Revolutionary Brands’ Nova C60 line of skincare products has been formulated to repair and hydrate the skin. Nova C60’s Day Cream and Night Cream have been formulated with Matrixyl® synthe’6™ and allantoin , which have been clinically proven to reduce wrinkles and increase skin hydration.
