Scottsdale Community Partners Announces Upcoming Back To School Event

May 03, 2017 – – Scottsdale Community Partners in Scottsdale, Arizona, has announced an upcoming Back To School event for students and parents. The event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, and is sponsored by the City as well as the Scottsdale Unified School District and various nonprofit, civil, business and faith organizations.

Jenny Adams, Executive Director of Scottsdale Community Partners, says, “All students who belong to a low income household and are enrolled in an area school from Kinder to Grade 12 are eligible to attend the Back to School event. Attendees will need to provide proof of income or a free or reduced school lunch letter.”

The Scottsdale Back to School Event is designed to help the more than 6,500 low income students of the city’s Unified School District and provide them with a new backpack that is filled with needed school supplies as well as running shoes and clothing. Businesses in the area will also provide more than 500 dental screenings, over 50 immunizations and well child appointments all done on the day of the event.

Holly Snopko, President of Scottsdale Community Partners, says, “It’s an excellent opportunity for those who can donate and help us support the students in our community. Monetary donations are always welcome and you can rest assured that your donations will go to a wonderful cause.”

The program has grown substantially since it was first implemented back in 2014. During the first year, the event helped just over 500 students. In 2015, more than 800 students received a backpack and supplies and in 2016 that number grew to nearly 1,000. Snopko says that they expect this year to be even greater than prior events and says that she hopes that those who can will provide assistance in this rewarding event.

The goal of the program is to assist families who otherwise could not afford needed school supplies and clothing for children and to help those children to begin the school year on a positive note.
