New Braunfels can ban affects Comal River, but tubing is still available on the Seguin River. People can enjoy the alternative river to float when cans are banned on the Comal.

The ban on cans and large coolers on the Guadalupe and Comal Rivers have been the subject of debates, with proponents of the ban when it was in place previously citing reduced litter and lowered costs of litter removal. The renewed New Braunfels Can Ban will not take place immediately, and opponents plan to continue the fight against the restriction.

Taking a float trip on the Seguin River begins at the Green House where the parking is free. A wristband for each person in the group allows the use of the return shuttle service. The launch point is located right on the water, only a few steps from the Max Starke Waterfalls. The float time is about 1.5 hours which permits a second float if desired. There is a riverside picnic area for enjoying a packed lunch or visitors can enjoy food at the on-site restaurant. There is also an on-site gift shop for incidentals and souvenirs.

The Seguin River tubing trip is much less crowded than other nearby float trips, and there is no can ban. The tubing conditions are just right for families and perfect for kids. The average depth is between three and four feet, so scraping bottom is not likely, and it won’t be necessary to stand and carry the tube. Floaters can bring their coolers and cold drinks to enjoy along with a quiet and restful river float.

The float trips are available seven days each week during the house of 11 am to 7 pm. The facility opens on Memorial Day and remains open through Labor Day. Visitors may take part in a float trip or can simply enjoy watching the water.
