Shernorva Abiona Outlines Success Strategies at Jamaican Conference for Teens

May 03, 2017 – –

Young entrepreneur, Shernorva Abiona, was one of several guest speakers addressing high school students at the Children Upliftment and Restoration Foundation’s 2017 Success Conference, which was held at the Jamaica Conference Centre on March 31. The 17-year-old international voiceover artist and student was the only youth speaker at the conference. She outlined several success strategies that were necessary to achieve high levels of success.

Speaking in front of an estimated 1,900 Jamaican teens from schools across the island, Abiona spoke about doing what it takes in order to be successful. She told the teens in attendance that it would take effort on their part and that they were responsible for their own success, even when given the opportunity to be a part of progressive groups. Abiona, who was born in Trinidad and grew up in England, also used examples of the attitudes of successful people, such as world-renowned sprinter, Usain Bolt, to drive home her point and explain the importance of working hard.

“Work hard, strive for excellence, be teachable and you will achieve your goals,” said Abiona. “Instead of trying to figure everything out yourself, learn from the wealth of knowledge that successful people have to offer.”

Other speakers at the event included Education, Youth and Information Minister, Senator the Hon. Ruel Reid, Chief Executive Officer at International Travel and Culture Exchange, Poye Robinson; Alicia Lyttle Chief Executive Officer of Internet Income Jamaica and Pow Social; and Bishop Henry Fernandez. The theme of the event was “You are in the Winner’s Circle.”

As head of Young Cyber Star, an initiative set up to empower and support teens, who are interested in starting businesses online, Abiona is experienced as a young entrepreneur, international speaker and full-time student in the UK where she lives. She has spoken in front of audiences in churches, schools and at conferences, and has offered voiceover services to clients in over 15 countries. She is also studying The International Baccalaureate at the Rochester Grammar School in Kent, where she is currently the head girl.

Abiona’s speech at the Success Conference for Jamaican Teens is part of her drive to help ambitious young people succeed in business and life. The young entrepreneur is inviting like-minded teens to contact her via her Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/Shernorva or by way of email at: shernorva@gmail.com.
