Silicon Valley Bank Chooses Chiron For Their HR Intranet And Re-design Project

When Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) needed upgrades to their Intranet and a redesign project for the HR department, they reached out to Chiron to investigate the project’s requirements. The length of the engagement was six months.

The Problem

SVB had an outdated intranet portal running on SharePoint 2010, and they upgraded to SharePoint Online. The goal was to provide a branded site with SVB’s image in mind and a unified experience where employees and users from different countries could get their country-related information. The information included calendar events, scheduled holidays, pay schedules, benefits packages, and healthcare providers.

First, Chiron’s team developed an updated User Interface (UI) for the portal. Chiron organized the content based on departments like Health and Wellness, Financial Well-being, Life and Family, Jobs, and Hiring. Each department maintained its site collection point -The data would be synchronized between departments and to the central HR HUB. 

Second Problem: Identifying User & Solution

SVB is in multiple areas like the US, Canada, UK, and India. SVB had no way to identify the user, their region, or country. Chiron overcame the challenge by using the Audience Targeting feature of SharePoint Online and the Azure AD dynamic groups to identify the user’s region and country locations automatically.

The third and final problem & Solution

Chiron developed a custom web-part, so information from the primary provider’s list would appear on the filters and categories to corresponding pages across different sites. For Example. If you were coming from the United States and looking for Benefits links available, you would see the benefits available to you, such as providers and benefits packages for the United States. But, if you were a user in India, you would see information related to India and a different benefits package. 

The custom web-part was developed using SPFX and has multiple views, such as; the data view (Provider name, description, logo, provider information with contact details, provider quick link with logo, and view of all providers for that country.) Combining these views on different pages and targeting built on SharePoint allowed Chiron to provide SVB with functionality and create a unique country-related experience for the user.
