Skore Candle Releases Information On Toxic Paraffin Wax Vs. Natural Soy
September 30, 2015 – – Skore Candle highlights the difference between toxic paraffin and natural soy wax
Barrie, Ontario – September 30, 2015 – Skore Candle, a candle manufacturer in Barrie, ON, Canada, is highlighting a piece of research on toxic paraffin wax, as compared to natural soy wax.
The company has always prided itself in creating affordable, completely natural, non toxic and clean burning candles and melts. Its goal is to ensure people can enjoy the beauty and serenity of these products at home, without jeopardizing their health. The research has shown that paraffin wax does not meet these standards, so the family-friendly company has committed to doing away with them completely in its scented soy candles.
“We want to advance the health and natural product movement,” says Bradley Lalonde, co-founder of Skore Candle. “To do so, we have unequivocally rejected toxic paraffin wax in favor of natural soy wax in all our candles and melts.”
Paraffin candles are made using a grayish-black sludge that is a by-product of the oil and gas industry. Industrial strength bleach is then used on the substance, which changes the color to white but this was found to also create toxic dioxins. Acrolyn, which has been found to be a carcinogenic chemical, is then added to make the candles solid. It was also noted that, when burned, paraffin releases many carcinogenic gases, including toluene and benzene.
On the other hand, natural soy candles are made using only natural ingredients and they have been observed not to release any toxic gases.
“When we learned how most candles are made, from paraffin with lead wicks, we were shocked,” notes co-founder of Skore Candles, Penelope Lalonde. “Paraffin is effectively a poison. That is why my husband and I decided to go into business and make all natural candles and melts from soy. These candles have been found to burn cleanly, thus protecting the health of families.”
Soy wax is created using soy beans, which is a renewable resource that is grown in the USA. The burn is clean and does not release any of the paraffin toxins. Additionally, it burns at a lower temperature, which is good for the environment, and the burn time lasts longer.
“Soy wax is biodegradable and environmentally-friendly,” adds Bradley Lalonde. “As a result, we can manufacture soy based candles and melts with full confidence knowing that they offer significant advantages over traditional paraffin candles, especially when it comes to health and the environment.”
